Site navigation

Now unless I'm missing something (a brain perhaps) I still notice that the site still has two profile systems, one for the main site, and one for the forums. There's still no obvious link to the forum profile, other than a text link above the forum called "Settings"

The way of getting to your Private mail is through this link called "settings" which IMO is less than ideal. Also no notification of PM's on the front page.

Site has been through beta, and has now been live a few weeks, and still can't believe the basic navigation hasn't been sorted out. These should have been in place before release to beta.

Are there any plans in place to improve this? Maybe put the forum profile and Private mail links with the others, in the box on the top right of page would help.

Just my 2p's worth.

And this is what I wrote in another thread Mick:

I wonder if this could be the cause of your problem? You first need to be signed in to do this and then for some reason known only to the powers that be, actually read a thread (this one for example) otherwise the following option won't be available. Why the following dialogue doesn't appear on the front page of the forum defies belief but anyway.......

Scroll down to the bottom of the page where you'll find a menu called 'Forum Jump'. Scroll through the drop down menu until you get to 'User Control Panel'. Once this is open scroll down until you see 'Thread Display Options'. Have you got checked 'Show Images (including attached images and images in etc etc)? If not, place a check mark next to it and save these settings. By the way, you'll also find other settings and menu's to adjust to your liking under User Control Panel menu i.e. receiving emai notifications etc etc.

Like I said, 'Forum Jump' doesn't become visible and therefore usable until you actually read a post. Maybe someone at Admin would like to explain why this has been set up in this way as it seems to be the most illogical place that one would search for such a thing. Top right of the Forum page where it says 'Change my account settings' would seem to be the logical place woudn't you agree?

Sorry Forseti, I missed that one.

This brings me to another missing part of the navigation. Latest posts or Posts since last visit. Those links are missing.

Pretty sure it can be included, let's try this for latest posts http://www.photoradar.com/forums/search.php?do=getnew

Hi Lurkalot,

Thanks for your comments - it's nice to see you back here.

We know how important it is that we get the site right, there are lots of areas of improvement for the site that we're looking at and the profile integration is high on our priorities at the moment, so please be aware that we are continuing to listen to feedback.

As always, any other feedback or suggestions is welcome.

Thanks,

Amy

OK, this leads me to my next problem.

The FAQ for the site can only be accessed if you log out of the site, and as soon as you log in they disappear. This is bloomin ridiculous isn't it. (especially as I mentioned this at beginning of beta).

Now once you finally stumble upon the FAQ for the site it soon becomes apparent that they no longer apply to this site because half the features have been stripped, or turned off.

Surely after all this time the FAQ should have been updated. Would be handy to add info here about how to upload your avatar etc, instead of filling the forums with stickies on the subject.

That's too easy Lurkalot. Half the fun is trying to find things that should be linked but aren't. I think this website was designed by a committee who didn't talk to each other!

I can't help but notice that a couple of posts above this is one by Marcus Hawkins entitled 'Sticky: Improvements and fixes - 18th September posted and not updated since 19th September. From this I take it that there hasn't been any improvements, nor fixes, since that time.
