Smile Sorting JPEG and RAW

Hi All,

I am new to photography and have recently taken c.400 JPEGs and paired RAW files.

I have sorted the JPEGs that I would like to keep and have saved them to a HDD.

I was wondering if anybody knows of a simple method of searching for the paired RAW file in Finder on a Mac to save me going through the folder again!

Many Thanks in Advance,
Chris

I would use software. I use Lightroom and it will be pretty much automatic. PS and PS Elements can organise it for you as well. However, the file names usually match except for the extension (ie IMG12345.jpg and IMG12345.CR2 for Canon). Of course if you have sorted and renamed the files, you have a LOT of work ahead of you. LR, PS and PSE will all work on the filename.

Hi cjerome,

what a coincidence - I've just written an article about JPEGs and RAW here!
http://www.digital-photography-tips....-worth-it.html

It doesn't directly help your current issue, but it does question the use of RAW in the first place.

For now, donoreo's advice is sound. Use darkroom or PS and it will do a good job of pairing photos.

For the future - do you need the RAW files? Maybe, maybe not?

Darrell.
