So, photos taken Saturday/Sunday, uploaded by Monday midday, poll up during Monday evening, voting Tuesday and Wednesday.

I'd only add that the next topic should be announced asap after the winner is announced. Sometimes I found I didn't have much time to think about what I was doing .... come to think of it, I often don't know what I'm doing *lol*

Lookind forward to the first comp

Hi Sarasocke, very well summarized and a very good point raised about the new topic being made known ASAP.

The winner this week michaleb104 is ill and cant do the comp admin this week so I've volunteered to do the biz, I'm still hoping he will give us a topic, but if he doesn't we will make it fairly open so that you should be able to enter without any problem ( or excuse ).

I think the old rules said the winner would post a new topic on Friday, but generally folk posted reasonably early I think. I agree though that as much notice as possible is helpful, without forcing the setter to opt for something too generic because they haven't had time to think of something! Could there be a (stickied) competition ideas thread to give people some help if needed?

The whole thing's a short time frame comp compared to others, which can make it a challenge: which is good. I know I surprised myself with some of the new (to me) types of photo/subjects I entered at DCM because I had to come up with something on the fly.

Hopefully we'll have this weekend's subject posted soon. Ive been liaising with Bob and sent him the list of previous subjects - no reason why they can't be mined for a suitable one for the restart.

I agree with Mark, the short time frame is part and parcel of what makes the competitions so much fun.

Looks like things are rolling again with the comp...looking forward to getting back into it. I like all of the suggestions that have been put forward so far in relation to the rules as summarised in Sarasocke's earlier post

Hi Bob, there was also the rule where in the event of a draw first to post would be declared the winner.

You're quite right Ian. What's the general concensus on that one?

I wonder whether we should go back to that to save the old issues of so many joint placings that arose at times. It gives an incentive to get thinking and out there at the weekend. Let`s face it it is just for fun and there should be a reward for being in there quickly and getting things rolling in terms of entries. That`s if you can call it a reward when you have to set the next topic and set up the polls if you win :-)
Are we going to go for a league table for the year again? I lack any dort of excel / tabular skills so not volunteering but the sort of thing that needs to be set up early to save work - what about critique? Do want to encourage people above and below entries (any anyone else) to express an opinion about images so that the comp serves a dual purpose. Nothing obligatory - just to add to the flavour a bit. I liked that more than the voting if I am honest and now that fizzio is probably over -committed in the old parenting game we cannot count on him being around with that detailed critique. Could add another "prize" whee whoever finished 2nd has to do a critique? Going too far?
