do you put your photos on a site such as flickr? if so, you can add a link from your photo there to your post here. if you don't use such a site, you can add your photo to the gallery here (keep it under 1mb though or else you get an error message i think) then link it into the post.

I live in Northants in England. Its a rural county and has some lovely parts, but generally speaking is pretty flat and boring.
Northamptonshire flat and boring? I was born in St Ices, Cambridgeshire - now THAT'S flat and boring! Now living in south Northants and I love the gentle rolling countryside.

Where is that church you're shooting? It looks vaguely familiar. And of course the local stone is very orange!

I admit to being a complete neophyte to these forums, HDR & more over, photography in general.

That said, nothing like jumping in at the deep end, more so when running around with entry level equipment.

Not sure how this rates as a 1st attempt, aside from the obvious framing & focal issues.

I'd say a very good 1st attempt. The subtle HDR treatment seems to have really brought out the lovely colours and shades of the dahlia flower and whilst I agree with you about the framing of the image, the focus looks pretty good to me.

They all look really good Alex, I especially like the sky in the 3rd and 4th image. The 4th photograph being my favourite, however I'd be tempted to clone out the vertical con trail, a couple of rain spots and the small white post on the right, then I think you'll have a winner.

Regards

Nick

My wife is from the Fens, and yes, it's very flat. And boring.

The church is in Great Doddington where I live. Where abouts in South Northants are you??
The county does have some lovely parts, but it's not dramatic.

Not dramatic maybe, but still much more pretty than parts of East Anglia. St Ives (sorry, I was replying on a mobile) is ok down by the river,

I don't usually say in a forum where I'm from as it's a very small village which no one's ever heard of. Just over half way between Northampton and Banbury on the old road, or midway between Daventry and Banbury (but off a bit).
