So this is what I've got so far (that haloing on the right, is the smoke from their bonfire - I promise - which might have been good for last months comp!!)

Whilst the composition of my photo isn't very good, and I've overcooked the saturation and vibrance way too much, this is the first HDR I've ever done, so I'm not sure how unreal HDR is meant to look .

BTW, Thanks for setting the challenge Sabrina/DD, I've learnt something new today.

It looks like you're in the same boat as me Nick - struggling to work out the best way to do this!!

It was my first time as well. Yours isn't too bad for a first effort, although it looks a bit orange. Did you have a look at any YouTube tutorials? I had to look at a couple before I knew what I was meant to be doing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjAoogg6aB0

I think I need to take my tripod out with me, and wait until the MOD's agents stop setting fire to the common!!

Regards

Nick

I did watch a few tutorials on YouTube but this effort was pretty much me just playing around. It's going to be a steep learning curve!!
Thanks.

I've just processed this one that I took yesterday. It was handheld through railings and the sky is awful. I might go back with a polariser and my tripod at the weekend, I was so self-conscious about taking it, as old ladies kept walking past, giving me strange looks.

I think that's looking better Nick, but agree that the sky could be improved. We need some more dramatic skies though. The HDR element is certainly there though.

I've had another go, and whilst I think its an improvement over my last effort, there is still plenty of room for improvement. The sky is a bit too 'artificial'.

Photoshop Elements 9.

I don't think it'll work very well, but I have downloaded a free version of Photomatix and that seems good.
