Just out of curiosity do you have anything in your archives Sabrina that is better and falls into the category. Just interested as you say your pic is "no winner".and basically entered to keep, numbers up.

Jeff,

I have no big archive, I'm into photography just for about a year now. I never did red photography, so no I wouldn't have found something there.
I said no winner, because I'ts not at all what I had in mind. Time, and the bad weather weren't on my side, but that is the problem we all have.

I have a full-time job to, and my household to do when I come home in the evening. But knowing the challenge earlier gives time to research, and maybe do some test shots, that can be overdone (and better done) in the week-end.

I keep trying to enter every week, It's a good way to learn, and i'm always happy to see what other photographers do with the theme.

P.S. I want to apologize for my bad English, I try to translate the dutch words coming form my brains

Sabrina, English is fine, no problems, whenever I speak tomy Dutch friends it is always in English, my Dutch is terrible.

Looks like my thoughts are not what people are looking for so hopefully things will pick up on their own.

But this week for example, I specifically went out to photograph something red. Yes, photogrpahy is my hobby and I do enjoy taking
Photos, but I don't do it all the time. The weekend theme gives me the opportunity to photo a specific item, maybe something that I wouldn't normally photograph.

Inspired by Dave/Wavemachine's 366 project, I was thinking of doing a 52 project. As I had a eureka moment for this weekend's competition earlier this evening, I'm in with this:

Fancy a beer?

Hey Glad to hear it Nick, I am thinking along the lines of a 52 myself at the moment

I guess i should say where I stand on the change of Rules re: archive photo's.

One of the main reasons why my photography improved on this website was that you were given a brief and a deadline and it made you think. One great photographer said you are within 20 yards of a great photo where ever you are, you just have to see it.

Regarding the time frame the rules were changed not long ago I quote: Rule2) To be valid images must be taken after the theme has been posted, up to midnight Sunday in your time zone. ALL of the elements of any composite images or montages must also be taken within this time frame. So if you look at the time theme's have been posted in most cases there have been 4 day's to take your photo.

I think that the time constraints and the fact that you may be stuck in doors can make you a bit more creative in your photography its not just the brilliant subject you can get to, it could be that bottle of beer knocking around or a pressy bottle of Jd and some Christmas lights that photographed well that could win competitions .
I do know that the last three entries I have put in have been Imagined, thought out and done at home in less than a hour. Plus they are images I would not have taken had it not been for the Dc comp, so I am grateful the comp made me get my camera out and get my creative cap on.

Anyway I am happy to go with what ever the majority is, but I am a bit lazy and would trawl through my archive and perhaps my photography would suffer.

Great entries by the way, thought some one would have put red underwear in Dohhhhhh lol

haha I had considered red underwaer......but mine was too large to photograph without a wide angled lens.....................................

I agree with what you said above about the timescales.I must alo add that if we trawl through archives rather than take a new shot, our archive file and out skillsand knowledge will not improve/increase.

Looking at this week it has improved and that is great, my post was just a thought to discuss so at least we discussed it and i will go along with whatever.

DD using archive photos is not as detrimental as people make out as you are always taking new pictures and always trying to improve or i am at least.
