Thanks Alex, I hadn't noticed. I've been busy working this weekend so haven't got anything else. Cheers

As we know entries are low and have been for some time, suggestion, like on other weekly competition forums why can't we use an archive photograph and in the case of a draw the picture taken nearest to the competition dates is the winner.

The thought on this is the fact that although the competition forces people to take pictures between set dates, as we all know this sometimes due to work, family or whatever it is not practicle, hence people do not bother entering. If an archive photo could be used then this may increase competition entries.

Not sure who the big boss is for this topic but just a thought, I know many a time I think I could use this or that photo but the weather has been rubbish and therefore not bothered.

What's the thoughts?

Jeff
I have to say I personally like the rule of taking it within the time frame like DD but I do understand where you are coming from Jeff, I struggle some weekends due to familly comitments etc.

Having said that I don't really mind however I think if we do change the rule that archive photos are allowed we should have the stipulation the image may only be used once otherwise we could see the same images re-occuring.

If we do change the rules personally I will probably take a shot each week anyway but then that is my personal choice.

One other thing to consider is maybe extend the timeframe to a week to take the shot with 2 days voting maybe just a thought!

I think you are absolutley right to raise this though as I would hate to see this come to an end and as it stands currently I have entered a few shots I am not happy with to keep numbers up (christmas being an example).

What do others think?

Difficult one this. I can see that both ideas are good, but ultimately I think that photos taken during the weekend are preferred. On the basis that it encourages people to get their cameras out. Like others, I can't always find the time to enter. I depends on bus work/home like, and I'm not the only one.

Could it become a two week comp, to give people more time??

Just a thought.

This could work Dave.
Maybe set the theme on a Wednesday, then have Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday to take photos, and then Monday and Tuesday for voting.
I know it's not radically different from what happens now, but it may help?

Do people think this may work??

A week to shoot is a good idea and works on other forums too. however, their entry figures arent that much higher than ours here. What do others thnk/

Jeff, my circumstances have meant that the forum and the comps have taken a backseat and I probs wouldn't have even entered archive pics as wouldn't have had the heart to hunt through old stuff either. Things are hopefully on the up at home though so better efforts from me hence forth

I think it would be better to have some more time, so your idea Dave, I'm pro!

Entered my red mailbox. Not a winner at all, but keeps the number up

Ok, just to stick another point in the mix, for some, me being one and maybe the only one, shooting during the week is not an option with work commitments. I have freed up Fridays of late which helps unless an emergency come in so for me Most Fridays, Sats and Sundays are the only time to shot and process, my problem I know. So for me the extended time frame will not be here or there.

Why people need encouragement to get their camera out I don't know, surely it's your hobby you take pictures for your own enjoyment.

As said before IF I have something that falls into the time frame I will enter it otherwise I can use other forums it's no big deal, was just looking for some way of getting more people to enter the weekly comp.

Just out of curiosity do you have anything in your archives Sabrina that is better and falls into the category. Just interested as you say your pic is "no winner".
