Lens adapters

Hi there,

I recently dug out my old Minolta AF lenses and have since been looking in to the possibilities of using these with a Canon DSLR (crop sensor) with the aid of an adapter.

After much searching I finally came across two adapters, one on ebay & a fotodiox version. Both have a glass element & are about the same price.

I was just wondering if anyone else out there has had any experience of using this setup, is it a good idea??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

i would sell the minolta af lenses as they fit the sony alfa dslr range and are still in demand and buy canon with the money you raise from the sales

that'l work

thanks for the reply cosmicma
I kinda want to hang on to the lenses as I like to use them with a minolta 7000 body from time to time.
I would like to find a way of getting more use for them on my digital body

i understand where your coming from but with them being AF lenses they will at best be an experiment
if they were fully manual lenses i think you would have more success with them for instance how will you alter the aperture ? considering this is done with the electronics of the camera there is no way Minolta will be compatible with canon and i doub't any adapter would make it compatible meaning at best you could use the lens wide open and that would be it

hence my suggestion to sell
another alternative is to pick up a sony alfa DSLR body and use them on that i think the results would be far more successful than using them on a canon body

Yeah it's looking like a bad move. I don't have any experience in mixing lenses & bodies. Done some research & as you stated the older, manual lenses seem like a better match.
Guess I'll have to invest in some new canon glass & keep the minolta setup for those occasions when I feel like breaking out the film.

Thanks for the feedback
