Thumbs down Time server needs looking at

I think your time is wrong

"All times are GMT +2. The time now is 02:55 PM."

The real time of this post is 12:58

Hi browndog,

As has been mentioned a few times, the quickest way for you to solve this is to go to settings > edit options > thread options and set your time to GMT.

Thanks,

Amy

23:23, 20th November. I just noticed that all the latest posts were showing as 'Yesterday', which was patently ridiculous as I'd posted not long before. Turns out I'd been logged out, and the times were showing "All times are GMT +1. The time now is 12:17 AM." So I logged back in again & everthing changed back to where it should be. Now it seems more than a bit stupid that the website should show me different times depending on whether I'm logged in or not. Why do I need to tell it where I am? Can't it find that out from my computer, like every other forum does? Where does it think I am if I'm not logged in? Should that be the location of the PhotoRadar servers? Is it Belgium?

Chris

Hi greenwing,

We recently updated most users profiles to show GMT by default. This was because after the clocks went back we noticed all the users default times were out by an hour.

You're absolutely right, in spotting that we didn't spot the default for anonymous users also needs correcting. We'll get somebody to take a look.

I think you're making work for yourselves. I don't know any web programming, but neither do I know any other forum that can't decide for itself where I am & what time it is.

PHPBB, Invision Powerboard, VBulletin (this one), Vanilla, etc. They all require users to input their time zone and any daylight savings offset.
