CS6 Bridge Query

When opening Bridge on PC running Windows7 with 8Gb ram I get the message that I need to purge cache, with the program promptly freezing. I uninstalled and then re-installed, but oddly enough the same problem. I would have thought that on uninstall it looses everything in memory.

Is there a way to clear the cache via Windows?

With Bridge open goto "Preferences" scroll down to and select Cache forth item from the bottom of list. Here you can Compact or Purge Cache.

Tried the above, but hangs before anything can happen. I have managed to get it to give me the error messages, it happens to be 'App Hang B1' in Bridge.exe, with hang signature 'a3e6'. Seems like this one will have to go to Adobe for resolution. Thanks for the suggestions, I will keep you posted.

Look into your event log as it will give you info on the file/files causing the problem. Just might need to reload these files to correct the problem.

OldBoy, I have gone so far as to uninstall, then re-install, but oddly enough exactly the same problem occured, down to the program remembering which file it was in.

How would I access the event log, and is it possible from the installation disc to just copy the affected files? I would LOVE to delete the current affected files from memmory, as it simply does not allow enough time between remedial action and almost instant hang

I'm not sure whether you can in Win7 but if so, start up in "Safe mode" and try to run it from there and clear the cache. Also have you tried Googling the error messages there are a lot of responses to the first one, theres nothing on the second one.

" AppHangB1 problems occur when important operating system files become misconfigured, deleted or damaged"

Have had a look at the Adobe forum: it is a known bug, and they are battling for over 6 months (!) to resolve it. Several workarounds have been suggested, but one of the interesting aspects is that Bridge does not like being on anything but the C drive. As I have a full backup, I have tried deleting the cache, but it returns to the same folder. So tomorrow I will try some of the workarounds, then report back on Wednesday. Apparently CS 6 itself is also alergic to anything but the C drive. I have had problems of it hanging on me after doing levels on about 20 pics.

The reassuring thing about the Adobe forum is that at least I know it wasn't anything really clever I did...

Funny that, I'm just running the Cs6 ext trial on another of my drives and having no problems whatsoever.
