I tried that and it was black screen, couldn't pick up anything.

Been on ebay thats a good price for a filter, not a lot to lose if it dont work out I was looking at the Cokin filter at £35
As for live view please tell us how you get see anything!

Was that question about my live view comment? What camera do you use? I've just tried it (in case it was one of those internet fallacies that is wrong) and it works on my D700.

I'd be interested to know if the live view works for other people. Theoretically it might as the sensor just keeps increasing it's sensitivity when it gets darker but it will have an upper limit. Maybe the talk of Nikon's being more sensitive to IR is true!

Tried again on my sony A300 and only get a black screen however I can get a focus lock but no able to compose the shoot though!
