Where now for your photography ?

Just curious fellow artists/Photographers
how far do you want to go with your art/photography?
are you happy with where it is? or do you want to get noticed by the industry big guns & really get your images out there into the art world?

Thanks for posting who ever

i think everybody wants to be noticed it's just how far you are willing to push yourself
as far as photography is concerned i would say the same applies but most are content with publishing a few images on websites such as this and flckr etc and some want to go that extra mile

i am personaly content with the latter although i do enter the odd image into photo comps but rarely get very far

How far do I want to go? It depends what you mean. With just that as a question, then as far as I possibly can. But I obviously mean something very different by that than you do.

With the qualification that it seems that you mean by the question "how much of a splash do you want to make in the world", then I don't give a ****.

I'm not bothered about whether I'm noticed in the slightest. Art for art's sake is more my style. I don't really put any photos up (on flickr not for about 3-4 years, and here never.

Personally I just want to get better at photography. To take better photos and be happy with the results. If other people like my photos than that's a bonus. It's always nice to get positive feedback and be noticed. However, at the moment I have no particular desire to be recognised by the industry, or to make money from my photos. Of course that may change if I succeed in becoming a better photography. But at the moment I'm not ready for that.

I enjoy photography and it's important for me that it stays that way. If I lose the passion, then I'd probably stop. It's not my living, it's my hobby, and on that basis I've got to enjoy it.
Time will tell where I go with photography, so ask me again in 15 years or so.

Exactly the same Q where now for there where now for your photography/how far do you want to go?
you obviously mean something different?
if you meant we as artists/photographers have of course ideas, directions, vision then clearly no 2 people are alike in there artistic journey & their paths are going to be their own making how ever they want to create or how their projection of art will take them.
I should hope it does mean something very different i would never want to be alike anyone else or compare my art/photography to yours or anyone else s.

Make a slash or an impact so large it causes a tsunami of a global scale (same thing really)
well if your happy with your art in a static position then that`s good
i guess it depends on how determined you are & how far you want to make it in the art/photography world like if you want stake or caviar for your tea.

As for putting your images on flickr & here
flickr can be a road block
well i guess i`m a little more ambitions then to waste time posting images for the sake of just posting them
if i want to do that i would be a holiday/party snapper & post typical standard images to please the masses.

I guess it`s a question of do you just sit & talk about your art/photography & post in forums of do you actually do something about it

i prefer the latter thanks

Sorry, but we're still not talking the same language. My comment that I didn't want to make a splash in the world at large doesn't mean that I'm happy to leave my art static. It means that I want to move forward, but I don't care a fig what other people think, and I'm not making the effort to get my myself noticed.

If I were a professional, then that's obviously necessary. For me, it would be nothing more that egotism of the worst kind, because it would be energy expended in self glorification rather than into art.

As to idea that unless you're actively involved in self promotion you aren't into phototgraphy only talking about it - well... Who started this thread anyway? You were the one wanting to talk about photography.

i guess it depends on how determined you are & how far you want to make it in the art/photography world like if you want stake or caviar for your tea.

I don't see that this is progression in photography. Popularity isn't a measure of talent or ability, still less of lasting achievement. I do think that you should reconsider this.

you'd be surprised on how many images on flickr are noticed by the likes of getty images and other well known publications
i wouldn't be dismissing flickr as a means to get noticed so quickly
