For me they are unsigned bands and I know them (and play rugby with the door staff to let me behind the barriers )
Other than that a great advice I've got is to either find a local venue with live bands on and turn up and ask and offer the photos, or myspace and ask band. For the Bands Bobthetog have got i don't know.

Bob...

Was in the pit for these. Have a good contact who gets me into gigs.
Idlewild was in the picture house on Lothian Road, Gomez at the Queens hall and Runrig at the Alhambra in Dunfermline.

Shooting Ian Brown tomorrow night and the Charletons on Saturday so I'll post some more later on.

Cheers

Bob

Thanks I have loads of closeups of him and other artists. I went through a phase of taking lots of music shots. I would write to their tour managers before their concerts and ask permission to photograph. Told them I was a photography student and promised not to sell the pics on commercially. The shots were used for college briefs. They were really helpful and I would get free tickets and sometimes backstage passes.

Not sure if I can get away with it, but I'll give you a shout if I can organise something.

Was just at Ian brown tonight and although I got some technically good shots, the one I liked the best was the one with the noise, the colours blown and to be honest, apart from the composition wasn't that great. But it doesn't always have to be perfect to like it!
