Wow, lovely shots, another reason why I got to get myself a Macro lens next. I like the detail, particularly in the first shot.

Assuming you took these with a Macro? Did you do anything else special for the set up, I am currently making friends with my garden spiders but holding the camera by hand with an 18-55 kit lens. Any tips you care to share would be put to the test with my next attempt.

Well worth getting up for , I'm guessing these are taken with your kit lens and macro converter so well done on capturing the beautiful detail .

I have one just like your third shot taken with my macro so I'll post it up in my gallery if you want to have a look .

Jimbojumbo-these are taken with my 18-55 kit lens plus a cheap screw-on close up filter (about 10 pounds from amazon). I hand held to get these (held my breath!) but a tripod would give a more steady result. I'm hoping to get a macro lens when I've saved up...! You can get pretty good results with very inexpensive equipment, but I think for the best shots (like Mark's-great shot by the way, Mark!) you'll need a macro lens. Others here have much more experience and there are loads of great tips, so look around thanks for the comments guys, I was pleased with these shots!

Also found a few items of interest at what seems to be very reasonable cost when compared to buying a dedicated Macro lens. Borwin close up filter set £28 sound reasonable?

That's the sort of thing I've got-just check you get a set with the right filter size for your lens and don't shoot wide open unless you're wanting a VERY narrow DOF!

I love the first 2 and I only dislike the last purely for the spider not the actual quality itself. The first photograph in the series is my favourite, so well captured. I love how not all the dew drops are the same size and that there is only one big drop frame by various sized smaller ones. Lovely indeed!!
