Tripod Advice

Hey all,

I'm in the market place for a new tripod. The one I have is a Cullman Titan and weighs in a 5kg it's a behemoth of a tripod.

What I want in a tripod is:

• Able to upturn the central column to do macro photography.
• Light weight enough to be able to carry it almost all day
• Comes with a carry bag
• Study in windy conditions
• Quick release plate
• Costs between £100-£150

Seriously have a look at the Benbo Tripods I would not be with out mine and dont be put off by peeps that tell you its like wrestleing with a Octopus while playing the Bagpipes as it is soon mastered

The Manfrotto you're looking at does not feature a reversible centre column. But, you can turn the column through 90 and spread the legs of the pod to get the camera really close to the ground.

I am looking the giottos vitruvian range as they seem very light comes with a bag and can take up to 6kg of weight

I 've heard good reports on the Red Snappers but having never used one I can't comment further.

Quick release plates are part of the tripod head, which would be bought separately. Remember to budget for this. Also, some heads are bigger than others, and depending on which you choose, the tripod plus head may not fit into a standard tripod bag.
