Dew drops and spiders

Had a bit of fun with my Sigma 105 macro this morning . I was trying to get a good image of this spider and was just about to give up when it stopped under a leaf covered in dew drops , I spent a while trying to get the right balance of focus on the spider and on the refracted image in the drops . I would of liked a deeper depth of field on the spider but the spider decided enough was enough and went in search of a quieter location so this was the best compromise I ended up with .

As always all comments welcome .

Mark

I like it. Great focus and detail, and bokeh. It would have been great to get spider refracted in the dew drops. Shame about the leg covering its face. But overall a great image, well captured.

Thanks for the feedback Jediboy and Alex ,

Jediboy you must of read my mind about getting a refracted spider image but no joy this time but I'll keep it in mind for my next outing , totally agree with you about the leg position of the spider and I'm sure you wont be surprised if I tell you I have almost 100 shots of this spider all with out of focus eyes or bad composition or god knows what wrong with them , one of these days I'll come away with a card full of usable image ( and pigs may fly ) .

So glad you like it Alex , what I love most is that I still get that great buzz from trying something new even if I don't nail the shot but it does spur me on to do more and do it better .

I know what you mean- I've often come home with blurred, out of focus pictures of fast moving insects. it's a mare but worth it when you get it right. And you nailed this one.
