What ISO are you using Jediboy and can you shorten your exposure time enough to capture the light trails but reduce camera movement?

Riding on a nice flat road also can help. When I tried this, there where little holes on the road, they make shake the camera, AND the car, which means the light trails are not smooth.

JonnyM - have tried various ISO and shutter speeds from 3 to 6 seconds. The problem with shorter exposures is that, to my eye, the light trails are broken, but that's just my taste.
And there is still enough movement that blurs the dash.

Sabrina - the roads here are terrible. The dual carriage way is not too bad but every little bump, hole or irregularity causes movement. It's really frustrating!

And I don't mid the light trails not being smooth, I like the effect the 'wiggles' create.

I've got an example of a shorter exposure where the dash isn't too bad, but the light trails are too short. I'll try and post it.

This is a 3 second exposure. The dash is better, but still not great. For me the light trails are too short!

Actually, the image above looks ok with the camera shake - give the sense of moving at a fast speed

When is the closing date for this comp? Is it the end of the month, or a month from when the comp was posted???
