battery charger for Italy

I have a Nikon D5000 and will be spending extended time in Italy. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a factory made battery charger suitable for Italy. Thanks

Hi John,
The charger will work on anything from 100V to 240V, although most of Europe is on 220V now. All you need is to be able to plug your charger into the socket on the wall,
I seem to recall that my camera came with two leads for the charger; a 13-amp UK type and a two-pin continental type. So, if you kept the box etc. have a look in there. Failing that, it's a standard 'Figure 8' plug for the charger and finding a continental lead for that shouldn't be difficult.
If all that fails, just get an adapter from Boots, Maplin, BHS, T K Maxx, ASDA, or any of 100 other High Street outlets.

Thanks Wave. I know that is a posibility - I was just trying to prevent carrying yet another device but if all else fails I will get one. I just thought it would be handy and convenient to have a Country specific charger or at least an E.U. one that is rated for 220V.

They only make 1 charger that span a range of input voltages the only thing that changes is the lead that plugs into the charger

battery charger for Italy

Thanks all! I stumbled upon the device I was looking for. We have a chain of stors here called Best Buys, I was picking up another memory card and there on the rack was a product made my a company called Di****wer. it is a power converter, charger and changeable plug in adaptors. It is only slightly larger than the original charger, weighs about the same and there is no cord to carry around. It plugs right into the wall. So thanks again for all your input.

Hi John,

Glad you sorted the problem out.

I must admit I was being a bit parochial and ignored the fact that you may not be a UK resident. Silly me! Can I suggest you go back to your profile and enter such data which will stop us making the same mistake in the future.

Enjoy your trip to Italy. If you haven't been there before, you will love it. It is a photographer's dream. Take lots of memory cards!
