Well done DD on a great victory, I did think of the same idea but could find no one prepared to lend me a baby I did have a shot of a cow and a calf but it was a tad on the boring side so that is why I went for my entry.

Thank you to whoever voted for me.

Up - AlexHarrison101 - medals, old and new

Great take on the theme, nicely exposed and a nice touch having the older looking off colour background on the older medal, only crit is maybe a slightly more artistic arrangement of the two subjects rather than a vertical divide.

Down - LaPistola - Bulb vs LED

Nice idea, very well controlled exposure and love the tones and reflections in the wood a really nice entry.

Looking forward to the next theme.

Congratulations DD, I love both of your pictures. You did get my vote!

UP: Bulb vs LED

A nice idea, sharp and a good exposure. Nothing wrong with it!

DOWN: Vino

Nice idea, sharp image. If I can give some advice, I would try to avoid the reflection in the new bottle, and maybe would have changed the angle of the shot.

Thanks to those who voted. I only know of Sabrina and Will, so thanks to them and the anonymous ones too. Was fun not knowing. Will do ups and downs later, but for now will try to think of a theme. When I never used to win, I always had a theme on the hope I would win, then the ideas dry up!

Toying with 2, but conscious that few people enter now so wanna be simple and generic to attract more.

DD Im not going to tell you if I voted for you or not

Everyone else, sorry you didn't get my vote

Up - Old & New Communication

I like the old telephone box but thought something wasn't quite right about it. The colour and texture of the booth didn't seem to match the scene in someway.

Down - Making Holes

Nice clean photo perfect for stock albums, border works well.

Thanks for the comment and it is a fair point, I am not going to defend my decision but thought I would give you an insight into my thought process.

I by chance found the phone box on a farm I was asked to take photos at, the farmer bought it as he likes old phone boxes and also as a bit of an investment.

My original idea for the shot was a straight split photo i.e. phonebox on the left and then a new phone on the right but I wanted a single picture that included the old and new in a single shot. Originally I thought about making the phone box blend in i.e. make it look a bit more plasticky and toy like but took the decision to try and blend it in but make it look out of place to that end I processed the box to look a little more haggered and prominent, there was a bit of a play on words intended as well i.e. odd instead of old I also deliberately left a little bit of ivy around the top left edge and some bits of gravel at the bottom edging on to the table.

It is not the intention of this to change your opinion on my image in anyway just to share my thoughts which I found useful to write down anyway

Here is the original phone box after I had done a little PP:-
