Indeed, well done JohnyM - a great photo of the moon. I am a big fan of the moon and took my first shots of it during the last full one a while ago, but not as much detail as yours, maybe I should try a partial shot and see if that works better.

Thank you to Alexharrison101 for my vote, much appreciated.

Up - A nice beer beyond my reach.

Great photo and appears to be good composition, great use of the sign to help put the photo within theme. However as always there were too many good ones to choose from.

Down - Front door, beyond reach

I like the photo alot, excellent prespective to show the meaning of the photo and to keep within theme. Well done.

My vote went to my son and his cactus, as it shows exctly what the theme intended (beyond reach and must show within the picture). I like the colours of the wall and the effort the child is putting in to reach the cactus, it made me smile which is what photography is about to me, and hence my vote.

Looking forward to the next theme!

I have done them in the past (not as good as Johnny) with a 300mm focal length and then cropped the image you will be amazed at how much detail is picked up so you have the gear

Here are my past efforts:-

Well done again JohnnyM I was torn between yours and Sabrinas cactus photo but yours just nosed it over the line for me.

Up - alexharrison101 - The housing ladder

Great take on the them, loved the colour popping just found the composition slightly strange with just the tops of the houses I think if you had pulled it back a bit it would have worked slightly better. Great entry though.

Down - LaPistola - Reaching for?

Nice idea presenting us with a puzzle and it works really well in B & W, I know you put this shot in to make up numbers and it is a good quality shot I think it would have worked better if the hand was in focus and maybe the hand higher in the frame other than that bang on theme and a solid entry.

As always just my opinions.

Thanks Sabrina for my vote, I didn't honestly expect my entry to be a real contender as it was obviously a photoshopped job which I fancied doing.

I will try and enter this weekend but will be pushed for time as we have a wedding to go to and have been having central heating installed this week.

Ups - Out of reach : a very good photo, beautifully lit and great detail. As much as I like the photo it didn't get my vote because I felt it lacked some imagination and creativity of other entries, but I can see why so man people voted for it, because it is out of reach and it's very good photo in its own right. Well done.

Downs - Give me my frisbee: spot on theme for me this one. Like the creativity. For me, it's a shame part of the face is covered by shadow. Minor point though and I like the idea.

(just my own observations).
Well done to all, some good stuff again this week.

Thanks for the votes everyone. It's been a few weeks since I've entered and I'm glad I did. I had an idea which was germinating through the night shift Saturday and then I saw this as I walked home in the early hours, calling out to me. As the sun rose so the moon was disappearing from sight rapidly, hence 'out of reach' in more ways than one. I feel I cheated a little with this one as I underexposed it to get the detail but lost the colour of the sky which is what I was after, needs must.

Just for you DD: Canon 60D/Canon 300mm f2.8 L USM lens @ f7.1 1/250th ISO100 on my trusty Manfrotto tripod. Of course it's been cropped massively. A quality prime lens can make all the difference with the moon, I've used a 2x teleconvertor on that lens before but the image is too degraded really, I prefer cropping.

Up: Reaching for? By La PistolaA film-noir inspired entry by the look of it. Quite mysterious and ambivalent, I can't quite make out what is going on. A challenging and provocative image all the same.

Down: A nice beer beyond my reach. By Jediboy.Quite an ironic image this for me, the beer is right there and that last 'chore' is willing me on to drink it before the other chores are even started, like having a 'Drink me!' label on it. I like the emphasis on the wording through 'colour popping' that works well, as do the other props in the scene.

My vote went to Alex's 'The Housing Ladder', a great metaphor that's as relevant today as ever.

All good entries and certainly tough competition. I'll have a new theme posted tomorrow afternoon.

Jonny.

well done jonny

up: my son and his cactus. i did like this shot a lot - how (why?) is the cactus on the wall? got me all intrigued lol.

down: reaching for help. i like the technique in this one - a friend of mine did a similar shot using a green screen - anything similar, dave, or was it all photoshop magic?
