Advice new camera for my Mum

Hi there

I'm looking for a digital camera for my Mum for her birthday. She has arthritis in her hands so needs something fairly sturdy with big buttons. Our price range is around £100. Something fairly simple, she likes to zoom in!

Any advice gratefully received!

Thanks

Gemhen

I don't have any first hand experience with these cameras but I was looking on What Digital Camera http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/equ...-than-100.html

I think it is going to come down to a compromise with this budget but I would strongly advise going into a shop to see the cameras first hand .

Well 1stly don`t go to Comet
hehe but do go to a repeatable store like Jessops i think you can get a very good compact for £100 or just a little over
or there is argos & they have a good choice for your budget but argos can be a bit unhelpful when it comes to returns & repair but not all stores have the same aloof manner.

Check out http://www.jessops.com & see what they have.
Best of luck

Gemhen - you might want to have a look at the Canon PowerShot SX150 IS (on sale right now for £86.29 at Amazon). It has a 12x zoom for your Mum

Here is what it is capable of: http://www.flickr.com/groups/canon_p...sx150_is/pool/

I hope this is helpful,

Hi there

Most compacts have small fiddly controls, but I can recommend the Panasonic TZ range (various prices). However, if you need a big zoom and easy-to-use controls I think you would be better off with a bridge camera (Nikon do one which has an optical 600mm zoom, but I can't remember the model name). You might need to spend a bit more than £100 though, unless you're willing to buy 2nd-hand.
