Red face Selling online....

Hi All,
I have been editing photos for family and friends for a while now and thought it might be a good idea to branch out to the wider community and get paid for my hobby. Unfortunately I can't find anywhere that says it is ok for me to use my Elements 5 for commercial use. I want to use their montages and their borders as well as other in built techniques. Am I allowed to use it for commercial use?
Help please!

hello Suzyq, my experiance of these matters are limited but from what I have learned from my previouse jobs most software has copyright protection in one form or another, some would require you to take out a licence for commercial use, if in doubt consult Adobe, better safe than sorry, hope I've been of some help and not put you off, good luck with your enterprise.

You're entitled to use the software to create or modify your own original artwork for commercial purposes. Any included clipart or templates would be subject to a license that you should have access to from within the software itself, so check there for the terms of use of included artwork.

Let me get this straight....You have paid Adobe for the editing suite, elements 5.0.
You now wish to use it to make money even though you will not get any customers!
I think your business plan has some major flaws as most people who buy adobe are more than capable of using the basic functions of the software to enhance thereown work.
Try buying Adobe CS4 and hopely if your a natural at it you may indeed start teaching.
The software is meant to enhance our work but has quite the opposite effect, especially for novices who totally screw up a decent image.

If you have paid for your copy in a legal way, then you can use it as you wish in the commercial world. This applies to all software as long as you have a legal copy.

I think that if you have paid for your copy then you have the right to use it for commercial reasons. I say this because as with MS Office you can use their fonts, clip art, word art etc for publishing leaflets and books etc without copyright restriction. I'm sure an email to Adobe Customer Services would soon put your mind at rest.

This is right....I dont think you wil make a profitable business out of this idea. Many people will find it easy to adjust / enhance their pics and holiday snaps using software on their own PC. Here's an example...my Dad had a load of holiday pics and some needed things like red eye removed and the exposure tweaked...he simply used the basic sofware that came with his camera. You'd make more money selling your own work.........
