Talking New to N Photo Mag and forum

Hi everyone, I tried to find a "sticky" thread where everyone says hi and introduces themselves but couldn't find one so hope I haven't upset the apple cart by just chucking in a new thread, lol ...... Wanted to say that I've finally settled on subscribing to NPhoto after trying other magazines as it's aimed specifically at my Nikon camera and with the greatest of respect to other people, I don't want to know how to use a Canon, Pen or Olympus, I just want to go out and have fun and learn about using my camera to the best of my ability, which so far this mag seems to be helping me do I'm interested in motorsport and nature so will be looking at ways to improve my techniques in these areas. I'm always happy to chat and share ideas and assist if I can so looking to contribute as well as take.. Good luck all

Hi (I'm guessing your name is) Mark,

Welcome to the forum.

I'm glad you have settled on a single magazine, with so many of them out there. You will find a wealth of useful tips in the mag, but if there's anything specific that's not covered or that you're having a problem with, then this is the place to post your queries and we'll see what we can do to help.

Good luck

Hi Chris, thanks for the welcome yes the name is Mark

Is there a place on here where I can upload my own pictures (I.E. my own gallery) to get feedback, or do people use Flickr Facebook etc?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,
There's probably several ways to upload your images onto the forum, but the way I go is:

1. Go to the main Forum page and select 'My Stuff' from the 4 links across the top of the pane.
2. Select 'My Images'
3. In the bottom left corner of the pane (which will be empty on your first visit) is 'Upload Image'
4. Follow the direction and make sure you complete each field or the upload will fail.

You can do multiple image uploads, but if one fails, they all fail. So, I would recommend you do one at a time. It's more time consuming, but safer.

Let us know when you've put some up and we'll have a look.

Thanks for the advice Chris, can't get the uploader to work, I'm guessing I'll have to resize my pictures first as the only rule I can see that is blocking the jpeg is the 900x1600..

Hi Mark,

How big is the file size of your image? Try uploading with a max file size of 1mb.

Hi, I'm also new here and have got 2 questions.

1. Could someone please tell me how to create actually start a thread (or whatever you call them)?
2. I've got a question regarding the Tutorials on the Digital Camera World Website. With a lot of the older photography tutorials the images aren't visible, instead there is only a blue question mark or red cross? Help?

Many Thanks

Hi Joshy,
Simple.
1. When you open the forum go to the section you want to post your thread in, then click on 'New Post' at the top of the pane.
2. Can't help you with this one, but I'm sure someone will. It could date back to the time when the forum was re-vamped a year or so ago and all our gallery images were scrapped. Maybe these were dumped at the same time?
