Im struggling with where to place the thing you want to refract...........I seem to need to suspend it in mid air somehow! It's driving me crazy. Do I have the refraction in focus, the drop in focus or do I take both then stack them?

My set up was odd-propped up the thing I was refracting (a puzzle book) on about 4 coasters leaning on a box, then the drop was water mixed with a big spoon of sugar and dripped onto a metal skewer suspended between 2 glasses, I used a pipette from my science lab at school to put the drop on...I'm glad the missus was at work this evening, she would not have been impressed with me cluttering up the kitchen! I used liveview to try and focus on the refraction and just a crop and bit of a sharpen in pp. Can't bear to try and do it again(!)...

Nope,I'm a female Alex

Maybe stacking software would help...I don't think my shot has the drop in focus, really, but I was concentrating on the image in the drop.

Chris.
Take another look at this photo I uploaded a couple of weeks ago. No stacking, focus on the water droplet/grass.
