From the Fens

i am working with a colleague for a day or two along the southern fens of Lincolnshire. I left my "proper" cameras in my hotel, but regretted wit when we grabbed some warm afternoon air in the afternoon as a storm approached. I used what I had to hand which was my Iphone 4S which didn't make a bad job of it, and processed it in CS5 using Viveza to boost the saturation and contrast a little:

I'll put the settings down but obviously the iphone decided these for me: f/2.4 1/1500 ISO 64

Here is an edit with the Horizontal electric lines cloned out. They don't actually bother me in the original but thought I'd have a go at removing them

Nice shot. Love the sunny look of the grass and the dark rainy sky, it adds some Confucian which is good.

The B&W convert don't do this one justice. Maybe a more contrasted B&W would work but for this shot I would say keep it colour.

The power lines gone im not sure is the best decision. There are two leading lines (grass and power line) which lead to the same point of nothing but with the horizontal power lines I think it may add more to picture.

I wonder is a slight fish eye (spharize) would add a 3rd drama?

I like these and agree the colour versions add more contrast and drama. However the Fens are quite unique in their landscape and your shots could have been taken in the American Midwest for example; I don't get a sense of location, it's more generic. Lovely cloudscape though. Oh, I also think the horizontal telegraph wires add quite a lot to the composition and should be retained.

I agree, and I prefer it with the pylons too. A number of people elsewhere suggested cloning them out, but I'm happy with them in.

Back in Lincolnshire , and took a short stroll around Stamford. I was more overcast than I would have liked. There are some interesting lanes and streets and also a good view from the area known as The Meadows
