Along Chelsea Embankment

I was in London yesterday for meetings and a party and I took some time between the meetings and the party to take some photos along the Thames. The weather was pretty good unlike today - pouring down here in the Lake District.

The houseboats still have the flags in celebration of this special year:

Above me was an airship which I waited to be over me before using my 180 macro to capture it

I can't help looking at the slope on the first image rather than the scene itself , also the composition doesn't quite work for me as the path and wall seem to draw my eye out of the scene and not into it .

The second image I feel has too much water without any interest in it and it seems to be suffering from barrel distortion .

The third like the second I think could have a large amount of the foreground water cropped out , otherwise it's a really nice and interesting shot .

The fourth shot is a nice crop but I find the buildings in the background a bit distracting , a shallower DOF may help focus the attention back on the Union Jack .

The final shot is my favourite by far and the B&W conversion works really well giving the image an almost 60's look , very nice .

As always these are just my thoughts .

In the second image, the Albert Bridge is a small suspension bridge so it arches. I don't think that there is barrel distortion there, although I always use the profile fix in Lightroom.

It could just be an optical illusion but it was more about the outer edges of the image that I was looking at , the path and lights on the left hand side slope to the left and the buildings on the right slope to the right .
