ok so having looked at other people's work on this thread...please be kind. i'm just starting and don't have a true macro lens, just a 70-300 with macro at 180-300...only got a camera 3 weeks ago!

i like the composition, for me just need more focusing on your subject. it's just me anyway.

You should be proud of this shot if your just starting out. Nice composition and depth of field. But as mentioned, focus could be sharper. That said, it's still a nice shot.

thanks if i'd had more time i would have got a better focus i'm sure - was being rushed by kids on school trip. guess i should have been watching the kids rather than taking photos, but this sort of shot is one i've been looking for and didn't want to miss the opportunity.
