Walking past the front room earlier I see my kids doing something and instantly an idea for the shallow depth comes into mind, ran to get camera, kids played along to a degree so I hope it came out ok.

Panic over when I was making the original post we had a lightening strike just a few yards away which took the roof off the church. All is now peaceful.

Literally Sutton? We had a lighting storm to but I don't thing it was bad.

Now then I have my entry ready but im torn between two effects. Now I know the monthly comp allows critisuim before entry but could I post two copies of the photo I have and get opinions on which is the better effect? I love them both and can't decided.

Mine is in. If opinions are allowed ill still post the two.

As said while walking past the front room my kids gave me an idea. They had laid out foam linking alphabet tiles and both way laying on there now large mat under a blanket and the idea was to use there eyes to show the DOF.

The shot entered is the first shot taken out of 50 other then the boys smile I had to PS this in from another shot (working with kids is difficult, I only got 50 shots as in the end when I said smile the boy said no and looked away and wouldn't play anymore). Anyhow I enhanced the DOF a bit in photoshop as I didn't have the room behind me to get use the full focal on the lens which is where I get a narrow DOF. I have then used a manually created highlight half HDR effect and enhanced the eyes of the girl.

I'm stuck basically on the colour half HDR effect which I love or the B&W with blue eyes showing. I entered the B&W shot purely as one of my favorite portrait HDR photographers has a collection I love all in B&W and thought maybe the effect is better in B&W as I have never seen one of his in colour.

The damage doesn't look to bad on the photo, but read the text.

That is bad. You can never under estimate the power of nature. Hope the roof is repaired/replaced soon.

I wanted to catch the olympic flame in Sunderland today but I am in work. I was hoping to do some DOF image but alas, I couldn't. But...The flame is in Durham tomorrow so I might have to try to catch it there. Otherwise, it will be a still life of some description.
