Lens Question

Hi all,

I'm new to photography and I'm using a Nikon D3100 with 18-55mm lens... I'm interest in a superzoom lens but I'm stuck between buying a 55-200mm or a 18-200mm (all-in-one) type lens.

I would like to be able take wide angle shots, but I would still like the ability to use a telephoto lens for close up shots at a distance.

If i buy a 55-200mm, although I'd still have the range between 18-55mm and 55-200mm I'm may miss shots while switching lenses.

Would an all-in-one lens loose quality in pics? What do you prefer?

Hi Rick,
The big question here is money. Amazon are selling the 55-200mm VR for GBP134 and the 18-200mm VR-II for GBP745. Now that's a big price difference and one you should perhaps be considering.
I use the 18-200mm as a 'Walk-About' lens and it is a very good lens as long as you can live with the zoom-creep. I have a pretty large collection of glass, zooms and primes, but I would think that the 18-200mm is probably on my camera more than any other lens. I would recommend it, but it is very expensive.

I agree with Chris if you need an all in one lens then I don't think you can beat the Nikkor AF-S DX 18-200mm F3.5-5.6G ED VR II .

WEX are selling it for £ 589.00 at the moment .
