Memory Cards

I’ve just got a Nikon D200 and wanted to know what 8 GB memory cards you recommend I should use and which are the best?

Most memory cards will serve you well but I tend to use Sandisk.

I have used both Kingston and integral ultimapro with my D300 and they both work very well.

Hi Carne,
As Old Boy says just about any card will be OK, but they do fail from time to time, so you're probably safest with Kingston or Sandisk.
Get the fastest you can afford. Long exposures sometimes take a while to write to the memory. The faster cards will do that job quicker.

I think the D200 will write to a card at about 10MB/s. Even given that cards are generally given exaggerated ratings, most 20MB/s (133x) or 30MB/s (200x) will be more than fast enough for the D200. Buying anything faster will let you offload to your computer faster using a card reader, but not help at all in camera.

Try MyMemory or 7dayshop.

I think it's worth sticking to the major brands - Lexar, Sandisk, Kingston.

be sure to check that your d-200 can handel that much gigabytes. I have a 2gb card in d-100 which is all she can handel.

I have used SD`s for years,but 2 PNY cards I purchased have now failed. I see MAPLINS stock 16GB cards,made in Germany, less than £10.

Lexar professional cards are well worth their weight in gold, you might want to consider them as well
