Upgrade D50 body or new lense?

Ok I'm hoping theres many wiser photographers here than me (I'm a complete amateur who doesnt know how to use my camera properly yet.) I'm slowly learning how to use my camera other than the auto settings.

I have a Nikon d50 (yes its old) a kit lense 18mm-55mm and a 70-300 tamron. All budget level I bought a while ago. I am trying to get more into landscape photography, although I use my camera alot for my family too. My question is as money is scarce, would my better option to improve my results be a new body? if so any tips, or a new lense? I don't have bags of cash so Im really on the budget scale still. Any positive advice is welcome, thankyou.

David

Nothing wrong with the D50, it's still a cracking camera for taking pictures. I would keep the D50 and check out the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens at £399 or the Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4.0 DC Macro OS HSM Lens at £344.95. Both these lenses get great reviews from users.

Thankyou Oldboy, I will take a look at those lenses, Your recommendation to keep the camera makes sense with snippets of other forums I have been reading.

Oldboy is right. Nothing wrong with a D50.
I use the 10-20 Sigma and it's great for landscapes. The Sigma 17-70 may be a more versatile lens though. If money is tight it's always worth considering second hand. Just a thought.

Alternatively, why not consider a flashgun (SB-600, or maybe one of the off-brand models) or a tripod. These may be more useful than a lens that covers much the same as what you already have.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the D50 - I still have mine and like it better than I did the D80. but the D300s gets more use now.
