Desperate help please

I am currently using Elements 9

I am trying to print using a Canon Pixma iP4600 but the error message is always

"icc profile is no longer installed"

I have twice reinstalled the Canon Printer program from scratch
My control panel shows that the profile is installed
Colour settings in Elements is "always optimise for printing"
Colour profile is SRGB
The file is a normal JPG

I just dont know whats going on
Can some one help me in very simple terms as I have aa acquired brain injury from a car accident and sometimes instructions get confused
All i want to do is print some photos

Please help if you can

Have you upgradad to W7. I have scrapped several Epson printers due to the fact they are not compatible to W7

I had a google around and it sounds like the Photoshop Elements Preferences file needs resetting the easiest way to do this is:-

To hold down the Ctl-Alt-Shift keys before launching elements (keep this pressed until it has launched), it should ask you if you want to delete the preferences file.

I got this information from here

You can manually delete the file but the location of the varies depending on what version of WIndows your using or if you are using an Apple computer.

It worked Brilliant

Many thanks

Your simple solution worked on the 3rd time of trying
My op system is still XP
The old laptop would not probably cope with Windows 7

Now I can print again I am one happy snapper
Hope to post some photos in a gallery for critique or general viewing soon

They are not up the high standards of some of the photos on the webpage but you never know I might get lucky

Again many thanks

Really glad you got it sorted and look forward to seeing some of your shots.

I have found a great way to improve and have a lot of fun is to take part in the monthly and weekly challenges, the main stipulation is that the picture needs to be taken within the competition time frame. It is a bit quieter than usual at the moment which I suspect is more down to it being a busier time of year for people but at the end you get feedback on your entry and it is a great way to learn, have a look in this part of the forum.

If you don't want to enter just yet then you can always vote, it is also fun to see how people interpret the theme.
