Well I have just entered.

I didn't take the picture for the competition. I taken the picture about 1-2 hours ago for a blog. Then saw this comp and thought why not join in as the subject kind of fits. I don't expect to win but I kind of like the photo and thought joining in is a start.

Its a piece of disregarded timber (im a carpenter - furniture maker). It was disregarded as when I cut through it I found whats believed to be a bullet and rot. (if your interested you can read the blog here http://hudsoncarpentry.co.uk/kill-tree.php )

It has been PP in the sense that it was converted to B&W to custom levels then a very slight green tint added and a custom drawn vignette.

Sorry I've not been around all week and it's doubtful that I will manage an entry this weekend. I've been taking advantage of the gorgeous weather building quite a large consevatory and I must get the roof on this weekend.
I do have to travel to Lincoln this morning for some materials, so will take the camera with me, just in case I get the opportunity to grab a photo.

Hi just looked at your blog
My work is selling mending and servicing woodworking equipment
You would be surprised at what people find in there timber
The most common are pelletes barb wire and staples which can be put
Through a machine and wont damage it
I would say that your pic is either a leadbase bullet or a staple.
I love the bw shoot showning the size
The worst thing I've heard of is a live round found in some time unfortunately
they didn't find it till it was going through a machine it caused a lot of damage to the machine
