What were your camera presets here? Its a nice shot btw and this might sound silly, but did you use a tripod, or was it a breezy day? One other thing I noticed was a TINY amount of lens flare, its right in the middle of the water fall. Maybe pop a lens hood on there to get rid of that. If you get a chance, kick up the saturation and contrast slightly... also kick up your shaddows and play with your dodge and burn tools

all in all graet pic, with great potential, keep up the good work

Being an ex Maltbyite? this takes me back to my childhood.

I was passing the Abbey a few years ago and saw approx 50 schoolkids (Maltby Comp) damaging what is left of the arched windows. Not sure if it was a school outing, but no adults present.
Several had climbed to the top and where throwing the large stones down. Not having the police station phone number I phoned English Heritage. No idea if they did anything about it.

Back to the photo, agree with the other posters, but I love the photo, the minor problems can be quite easily overcome in post, especially if you have Photoshop.

I think you have done a great job here but agree with the other, bringing out some of the shadow detail and removing the stick will give the shot more impact and less clutter.

Do you shoot in RAW, if you do you can easily rescue the shadow detail.

As you have discovered cloning the stick is not an issue, what PP software do you use?

I hope you don't mind but I have had a quick play and made some adjustments:-

I would go for photoshop elements as it is a lot cheaper than the full blown photoshop normally 10% of the cost and has pretty much all you will need.

I had a try with the main image, too. Hope you don't mind Andy, and I'd be happy to tell you what I did if you want.

Just been looking at the other image, and I think the flare spot is a reflection of the bright spot of the waterfall. I've seen this kind of thing with bright llights reflecting off a sensor & then off the 'protective' filter. not seen it with NDs before, but then...

Turn the image through 180 degrees, and the flare spot overlays the bright spot of the fall. Unfortunately, the best way to get rid of the flare is to lose the filter, which defeats the point, don't it?
