Memory Card classes?

Just been looking at SDHC memory cards and I was wondering what 'classes' mean on them?

Not a lot it would seem as you can get class 4 cards which are faster than class 6 cards and class 6 cards which are faster than class 10.

get a class 10 with at least 30mb/s transfer speed

It is theoretical speeds. Higher class = higher speed. However, I have several Class 6 cards that are faster than the one Class 10 card I have.

There have been a lot of tests on cards and yes there are those of a lower class that out perform the higher ones. my camera says class 6 or above so that what i stick too and i get 8 or 16 gig cards as if anything goes wrong with the card 32 is a lot to loose

Thanks.

I ordered one from Play.com.
Then realised it was coming from Germany. It was in 'Processing in Warehouse' for TWO days!! I emailed them yesterday to see if I could cancel it, so they've refunded me since I don't want to wait 5-7 days for delivery!

So I eventually bought one from MyMemory.co.uk.

It was despatched yesterday, so hopefully it was arrive soon
