An inexpensive Wide angle lens?

My son is renovating a cottage in Scotland and wants me to take some photographs of the inside. I have a Canon EOS 300D with the standard zoom lens and wonder if there is a better lens for photographing inside the cottage. You will have gathered that I am not an expert so expensive lenses will be wasted on me and I wonder if there is anything inexpensive I should try.

I don't know what your budget is Brian and I am guessing your kit lens is a 18mm to something lens but one very popular and well reviewed wide angle lens is the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 which can be picked up for between £300 to £400 depending on where you buy it , a wide angle lens would be my first choice for this kind of project to capture as much of the interior as possible .

I have a Sigma 10-20 and it certainly is the biz for opening up a view of a room. Every estate agent in the country should have one! If you are looking for a cheaper alternative there are lens / filter add on that screw onto the thread of your kit lens. Here is one on eBay for £15

They are not great for high quality images but will give you good enough pics for a basic before and after of the inside of a cottage if that is all you are after.
