Matthew, it was (in my experience at that time) a very good photo. The weekend theme was "Something You Pick Up" and I came second. The reason I lost was because people didn't think my portrayal of a pr*stitute was something you pick up. My argument was that if guys didn't pick up these ladies, the profession would have died hundreds of years ago.

If anyone wants to see my old image, say 'YAY'. If I get more than 5 'Yays" I will post it (there's a challenge...lol)

It was a very good image and very powerful.....one of those shots that could tell a story.

I'm struggling to find a subject to compliment my fire light......not made any easier by a livingroom full of women.....lol

Switch to candle light. Makes women look gorgeous. You're missing your chance, if you're not quick.
Don't let them escape!

Picked hubbby up after his day out with 'the lads' and took advantage when he dozed off in the chair. I took a lovely shot of him, with his days stubble, only lit with my off camera flash. A slightly low key affair, even if not used as my weekend comp entry, it's a lovely portrait of him for me to print off and also one for my portfolio.

OK, family coming over for Sunday Roast today which includes a few bottles of vino so no more time for artificial lighting shots!!! Will go with what I took last night.

Im in first with.....

David

Taking advantage of him falling asleep after a day out with his friends and a few real ales, this was taken using only artificial lighting by way of my Nissin off camera flash. I converted it to B&W, applied a very slight crop. touched up a little with spot healing, adjusted the brightness/contrast then (for the first time and after using an online help tool) added a soft focus by applying gaussian blur then reducing opacity to 35%.

What I have learned with this weekends competition is a little more understanding about lighting, how to apply a soft focus and how sweet Dave looks when he's sleeping and had some of his crows feet removed with spot healing!!!!!

Bendell. does this one live up to your expectations of what I put my poor hubby through? lol..I know you despair for him.

Nice work Chris, I am struggling my original idea didn't happen last night but there is always tonight, another idea I had I tried this morning and to put it bluntly it was awful not quite what I had in mind.

I have some other ideas though but will just have to see how much time I get today.
