They actually not snakes they are legless lizards. Quite cute little creatures. The biggest one I've seen was just over 12" long and about 3/4" thick. And they love wrapping them selves around things

So is a snake not just a lizard with no legs? Or is a lizard not just a snake with legs? lol Where do you live?

they both belong to the reptail family but snakes and lizards are different
the main ones being
Unlike snakes, they can't "unlock" their jaws to swallow a whole rabbit. A legless lizard has to stick to prey that's smaller than its own head.
lizards have moveable eyelids; snakes have no eyelids at all. lizards also have ear openings, while snakes don't.
and the best bit lizards, can detach their tail when they need to. When threatened by a predator, one of the legless lizard's main defensive mechanisms is to separate its body from its tail. It leaves the tail behind -- still wriggling -- to distract whatever predator is after it, and then runs away

Wow, its an education being here...That was really interesting, thank you. Have you seen my lizard image, of one eating a strawberry? You can see clearly its ear opening and I think it's one of my favourite photos.

Anyway, I'm in with this.........

This is a musical box, small enough to sit in my hand and the close up detail is lovely.

Is it the same as a slow worm thing - I found one by a railway line it's like a skinny snake but meant to be a lizard without legs!!
