'the real' Monthly Competition CHAT Thread - April

This is the CHAT thread for the real April's Monthly Competition. :-)
Hope you liked my attempt at an April Fool. If you missed it look here.

This month's technique is 'PANNING'. The aim is to get nice sharp shots of moving subjects whilst also getting motion blurred backgrounds.

There are loads of tutorials on the web, e.g:
http://digital-photography-school.co...oving-subjects
http://www.digitalcameraworld.com/20...n-your-photos/

Lets see what we can come up with :-)

Rules can be found in this thread

I hate this technique as I just can't do it...but thanks, it means I need to get to grips with it and this is the whole point I started the monthly techniques comp. Haha and happy April Fools day Pea u made me laugh.

The one time I entered the monthly comp, this would have been my suggestion if I had won.
I find it incredibly hard to get it right. First time I did it, it went brilliantly, after that ... forget it.

I had another go at it a couple of months ago, and I was beginning to get the hang of it, when something else turned up and diverted my attention.

At the moment all sorts of things crop up to divert my attention, so it'll stay simmering on the back burner.

Hi pea24
I think I prefer the dark aperture technique!
Great to see you in 2D.
You don't look as moody!
Thanks for making me smile.
I may try and have a go at this.

Well I obviously come across as a real miserable git in my photos; you're not the first to point that out. It made me laugh as well editing it - took me ages!

Not miserable, more stern/serious, or maybe even a bit selfconscious?

You should laugh more! Maybe not when you press the shutter, as you may find that 'too posed,' but just before you take the shot. With a bit of luck the twinkle will still be in your eyes, and your mouth might not have quite returned to its serious expression.

Mind you, you run the serious risk of harassment by female forum members!
You know I'm bad enough, but others may join in too.
