still nothing for mac users

although it was brought up on the letters page a few issues ago ,there is still no mention of anything to do with mac processing in either the mag or on disc ,surely someone on the editorial staff uses a mac or could source something to help with the use of apeture 2 or even a brief run down using i-photo ,just something to acknowledge the fact we exist (and in ever growing numbers ) a few freebie usefull plug ins for apeture 2 would be a nice starter .its getting really silly now when you get pages and pages of photoshop and elements do's and don'ts and nothing at all FOR MAC USERS

Umm Photoshop is available on the Mac as is Lightroom.

As a Mac user I understand how you feel in terms of the assumption that everyone uses a PC but many photo editing applications are available on both platforms so by printing Photoshop & Lightroom tutorials any magazine (not sure if I've ever read an issue of PhotoPlus) is going to cater to Mac & PC users whereas if they only did Aperture or Paint Shop Pro tutorials they would only cater to one platform.

In terms of Aperture tutorials there does seem to be incredibly few around both online and in print. Again I use Aperture as well as Lightroom and found that Apple themselves provide some good video tutorials to Aperture on their website to get you started. After that I resorted to buying a book on Aperture and that taught me everything I needed to know.

yes agreed it surely is but only if you have deeeeeeeeeeep pockets ,i prefer to spend my pounds on better equipment .the point i am making is that someone asked this question in the letters section of the mag a few months back ,and he was promised they would do something about it ,the silence so far is deafening

I agree as well. As a linux user the discs that come with Photoplus are lining up and will shortly be used as coasters. It angers me that so many complain about Winders/Microsoft being rubbish but still follow like sheep. Baaaaaaa

I've used Mac for used, love it.
I also love the fact that lR and PS seem smoother on the mac too.
The instruction/tutorials on the discs are software specific, (are they not?) so operating system isn't really that relevant.

As for aperture and iPhoto, there are hundreds, if not, thousands of tutorials on Youtube and even some great stuff on the Apple web site.

Forgive me if I've got the "wrong end of the stick".

I gave up on getting Photo mags to acknowledge Linux. I actually use my Mac for photo (Ps Elements) editing as there were more tutorials for it than the GIMP when I was learning.

Here is an interesting fact. The guys at Linux Format produce the mag on Macs They did a feature a couple of years ago and reproduced one article using Scribus on Linux. It looked very close in layout, etc, to the rest of the mag. It took them longer because they had to create all the defaults first.
