Well done pea, as soon as I saw your entry I knew it was a WASTE of time entering!!!

But seriously well done, you have great sense of composition.

Up - Water Waste - Neat idea, would have made an excellent entry if the depth of field was wider and the focusing sharper

Down - House hold waste - Good shot not quite sure how to get those great colours.

Thanks to highlandscenics, ianpinion, mabbutt, pea24 for voting for my shot.

Look forward to the next challenge.

Well done Pea, a simple idea with maximum effect. I voted for you too. A great entry.

Ups - Wotcar - To be honest, I wasn't so keen on the prosessing of this. Nice idea and great compodition but overly processed for me. Sorry.

Downs - Ogri - A hard hitting image. That poor swan. Have seen it so many times. A nice capture butI bet you wanted to help him.

A variety of takes on the theme. Well done all. We need to promote more interest, and ideas anyone?

Wow, overwhelmed by the votes and great comments... thank you. I've got the next theme sorted will post in a sec.

Above: deena - Waste................of space
Really nice idea and I think it had a lot going for it. For me though, I think it would have worked better as a high-key on a white background - maybe I think of space as being white rather than black :-7

Below: TwinnieE - Bin Day
This was a great moment to capture and I reckon if you'd got out of your car and taken a shot along the rows of bins, you'd have had a winner :-). I quite like the toning.
It also got me wondering how the town planners managed to get East Street and West Street at right angles to each other! (Never Eat Shredded Wheat :-).

Bendall's What a waste got my vote. I love this kind of candid shot and was toying with using candid as the next theme. The slumped head, stray can and carrier bag told a great story and I loved the fact that you went to talk to them as well. Well done.

I also liked JonnyM's Water Waste Take 2 - Great angle.
DigiDiva's Humans Waste was a great find but i think the composition wasn't quite right. Maybe a shot straight-on to the wall would have worked. Spotted a great subject though.

Right, I'll get on with the next theme. Thanks again... I've got a spring in my step!

Thanks to Kezpock for my one vote!

Up - Wasted - it is a pile of waste, so much so that it seems too cluttered.

Down - Waste of space - I voted for it. I liked the simplicity and the use of negative space

Congratulations to Pea!! Excellent shot, great composition, superb clarity and dof. But for me I just didn't get the connection. I suppose we all have different interpretations of words (which is great !!) but as a photograph I couldn't fault it. My vote went to Household waste. Bang on theme and I just really liked the processing.

Up
donoreo's 'Power Station' - really liked the idea of 'industrial waste'. The bw conversion works well, it's an Interesting building but not sure about the 'straight on' angle. I may have tried to capture it using a different pov, but not sure what your limitations were. But good thinking :-)

Down
Pea's 'Shavings' - see above

Thank you to donoreo, jonnyM, markgozz and Semaj for your votes. I was really surprised to get any! It was a last minute thought that went through my mind. :-) I'm glad it wasn't a total 'waste..of space' ....lol

Thanks to don and pea for my crits. Pea - I thought (outer) space was black . Seriously, I get what you're saying and I had originally thought about 'white' space but I only had white paper, and i was looking for a contrast. Thanks for your thoughts, always appreciated. :-)
