Filter systems

I would like to purchase some filters so i can experiment with some different techniques.

Could anyone give some advise to which manufacture, specific model etc. I have been looking at the Cokin Z-Pro.

Any advice appreciated.

That may be because, for digital photography, filters are pretty much redundant with the exception of ND graduated or polarisers.

its the ND grads that i'm attracted to so i can slow the exposure in bright light. Any advise on make?

I was only commenting on why there may not have been many replies but I don't use them myself. I don't shoot many landscapes mainly wildlife so haven't invested in many filters. I do know that it pays to invest in good ones. When buying ND grads make sure that they really are a neutral grey as some types introduce a colour cast that will need correcting in post.

I use filters, what are you looking to achieve with ND?? Long shutter speeds, if so the perhaps a B&W or Hoya 10 stop screw in would serve you better than a series of stacked cokin 2 stops.
Oh and dont buy cokin they aren't neutral, if your leaning toward cokin because of the prices then look to hitech, a little more expensive, but vastly better in terms of quality.

Yes i want long shutter speeds for daylight conditions, i will have a look at the 10 stop screw in. Thanks for you advise.

If thats all you are looking for then its best to just go for that one function with a screw in rather than a systematic slide system, as you would pay for functionality that you will never use.

Thanks again, i'm back off to the US on Wednesday (picking up a 5d mark 2 at the airport :-)) so i'll have a look over there.

The Cokin Pro Z's are bloomin' expensive (for me at least).

I've got Hi-Tec ND Grads and a Kood filter holder which works perfectly well on everything (apart from my 10-20mm at wider than 12mm). If you're only after experimenting then I'd check them out.
