Extraordinary or ordinary?

This is the theme for my final college exam for my photography course......To be exact, its 'Ordinary and/or Extraordinary. I have to prepare a scetchbook of images/research and also mount a selection of final images as a presentation.

Basically, I have show all of my research, screen shots of the PP process etc, to my final images. It seems I have to shoot ordinary things but present them in an extraordinary way (or visa versa).

I have some whacky ideas so far, like shots of faces and shots of fruit, then shots of faces with parts replaced by fruit (i.e. an apple for an eye, a banana for a mouth)...that kind of thing. I am also thinking of a tryptych of a flower from fresh to dead.

Any ideas spring to mind from you guys? This is only GCSE so its nothing too technical or wow photoshop wise......

I am not sure I understand it. Maybe others have the same problem.

So are you supposed to take a photo of something "normal" and then something "not normal"?

Or is it more like an advertising campaign where you have a photo of something...pancakes say....and then one of pancakes with syrup? (Canadian maple syrup of course!). How about cake....and cake with ice cream?

Well, its a bit like the weekend and monthly comps on here..The theme is how you take it...The theme is "Ordinalry and/or Extraordinary.....our quick briefing suggested we take images of ordinary stuff and present it in an extraordinary way. An example was a guy who took a self portrait of himself...Ordinary stuff. The twist was, he took a photo a day for 6 years then put them together as a kinda movie. You could see him age, fatten out a little, wrinkle a little etc.....

Am I right in thinking you need to show before and after shots Chris?
If this is the case how about food in it's natural or grown state and then in a processed state or maybe a bag of cement and a monument or a tree turned into a piece of furniture or a cloud and rain.
Don't know if this helps.
