Shortlist to nothing.

Thanks again to all of you who took the trouble to vote for me, in the writing competition for 'FEweek and Me.'

The result was supposed to be out on February 6th, and everyone who voted was supposed to receive an email with the results.

I assumed, the people on the shortlist, would also receive an email. So far no good.

However, clever daughter just rang me to commiserate, as I had not won. Hmmm. Mum hadn't heard anything!

She simply googled it, as she knew the results should be known by now, and found the following web page:

To be honest I'm not upset about not winning, but I'm quite p*ssed off for not being told!

I hate not hearing back. In a job search it is one thing to not reply to everyone that applies, but I have had companies that would not give me an update after an in person interview! How rude!

I know that happens all the time these days. Very rude indeed.

With my competition thingy, I was also promised the supplement of the January 16th issue, which had the stories in. Never received that either.

Unlucky Reinardina , sorry you didn't get the win but you should still be very proud of yourself to get as far as you did , it takes all my efforts just to string a couple of lines together on these threads let alone a story no mater how short .

Not getting in touch with you is unforgivable after the work that you put in but it dose seem to be getting more common , my partner had a job interview earlier last year but didn't hear a thing even after she called them to check that they hadn't lost her details .

That not getting in touch, did bother me though. I fired off an email to the guy who emailed me to tell me I was shortlisted. I think he mailed 'on behalf of,' so has probably nothing to do with it, but you never know. I wonder if he has the decency to get back to me.

That is the same with me. It is not so much not getting the job, but the not telling me AFTER one or two in person interviews!

Thank you for that. I know quite a few people tried, but you can't win them all! Apparently there were only a few votes between the winner and the number two. I'll keep an eye on their website, to see how close I came.

The girl who won, probably gets a lot more out of winning, than I would ever have done.So it's better this way.

There has been a flurry of emails between 'them and me,' and I'm not cross anymore. It booils down to too few people trying to do too many things at once. The (web?) designer was actually running the comp, while someone else was in charge of the emails etc.

As it was not really important to me, (though the vouchers would have been very welcome), I will not have sleepless nights over it, and just continue with my photography.

Thanks Ariana. I agree it would have been polite to let the shortllisted people know, but there you go! But, as I said, I expressed my opinion and, after a series of emails, am now on good terms with the man who ran the competition.

Hope your husband is OK now.
