What's your best earliest image?

Morning all!

Wasn't sure where to post this one but I thought why not here.

How about some fun, and an open thread, of show us your best earliest image.

Here's one from 2005 when I'd only just bought my first digital SLR. It was a Canon 350D and all I had at the time was the kit lens and I think some HiTech grads.

When I got the camera, I made the decision to only use it in manual and it is something that is still done today.

The kit lens used to annoy the hell out of me as it had front focussing, so you had to juggle a bit to get it where you wanted before adjusting the filter.

Now, the image is of Notre Dame de Paris cathedral and I've never yet been able to get close to having a similar sky there. The white balance was set to auto in Lightroom as at my usual 5500K it has a dreadful blue cast to it.

Want to get back up around May time as the sun should be setting in a similar direction.

Don't think I have 'best' earliest! When I started out, I did mainly point and shoot work, with the regular use of the built in optical zoom. Editing was something I didn't even know existed, even though the camera came with an editing programme!

That's probably one of the reasons my photography has improved! I've learnt some tricks of the trade, and have discovered editing. That and the more accomplished camera I now use, of course.

But, if I have some spare time, I'll dive in the archives and see if there is a 'best' among the early pictures.

Here's one of my earliest successes (well, it was chosen to go into a book about photography, along with another!). I'd taken some shots at the location, people had commented and I returned for a "re-match" which produced this!

October 2003 on my trusty Fuji S602z (which I still have - last time I shot JPGs!)

It took a "proper" camera to get this one, 18 months later:

Sigma SD10, M42 Zenitar 16mm Fisheye (and I still have these - and use them but for IR pics)

I do not know where the photo is, but I took a great photo when I was in the Navy Reserve in 1991. I was on the open bridge of a YAG and took a photo of another YAG that was with us. The sky was very moody, and everything turned out just great. The location was somewhere around Vancouver Island.

Here is a photo of a YAG (courtesy Wikipedia):

What do you call 'Earlier'? Wet Collodian plates? Daguerreotypes? Film or Digital?
