If so, watch the model. I've got an LS II, and it simply can't handle Kodachrome - soot and whitewash results. Possibly I could do better now that I have more experience of scanning, but the tech specs of the V700 make it the better scanner.

That said, for 35mm, a dedicated film scanner may be better than a top end flatbed. But equally, it could do worse. Everything depends on what you're scanning, and what you want the scans for.

Again, the big question is, "What do you want to do with them?"
I've had very acceptable results with the Epson V200, but it's slow and only does 4 slides at a time and I only wanted them for the web. If you're only doing a few dozen, it's not a drama - but if you're looking at 100's, well!
I had the big HP flatbed (can't remember the model) that did 36 slides in one pass, but HP could never get it to work properly and eventually gave up and refunded my money.
I remember when Gary was on his quest a lot of information was passed around then. See if you can dig up that thread.

I am wanting to print them maybe 10x8 to hang in the house.

Flatbed scanners are good, but they are greedy of pixels to get a good print. To scan a load of negs would take an eternity.
