Finally all settled in.... We got given an "old" blue fabric 3 piece suite from one of Tammys' friends' parents for free...well they did want 50 notes for it, but then decided as it looked a bit faded and the armchair, which is now MY chair..... was a bit tatty where the cat had been at the arms they'd give it to us for nowt. They even delivered it the day before we moved in.
I must admit, it doesn't look that bad and Tammy got some throws for them, they look brand new.

Been practicing some night photography, as there are no street lights around us and no light pollution, on the clear winter nights I have been left stunned by the millions of stars above my head as I step out the back door...Orions belt, seven sisters, the plough and hundreds of constellations all visible to the naked eye...really does make you stop in awe and make you think how small we are.

Anyways, I best get some more logs in...forecast to hit minus 3 tonight....brrrrrrr!!!!

In this case, Mark did set up the poill for someone else, good bean that he is.
If I happen to win, I also hope to be able count on his goodwill!

Maybe we should/could find some people who have such work schedules, or type of work, that means they can be on line any time, and create an 'emergency bank' that can be called upon in emergencies like this? (Wavemachine?)
I can do the poll in my lunch break if anyone is stuck, just PM me anytime.

The problem I had was, do I put the poll up 1hour 30mins sooner or leave it a lot later, I cant see a problem leaving it as it is except to say the poll can not be put up until after 12pm but say before 8pm in the evening therefore it gives us a lot more scope to play with and accommodate most people. If you can not be available between those hours then pass it on to someone that is.

Monday is a working day for most people, so it has been a problem in the past that the poll was set up before the official time.

Maybe we should move the last posting time for entries to 01.00 or 02.00 o'clock on Monday morning, so that night owls can still post. The poll can then be set up at anytime between early morning on Monday (after 02.00 o'clock) and midday.
I think what we need to remember is that this is a worldwide competition so whats convenient for GMT may not be convenient globally. We don'tnormally have an issue so I suggest we leave the colisng time to midday GMT, then whoever isdoing the poll can do it when its convenient for them (within reason or asksomeone else) and any entries posted after 12 midday GMT time wont be included in the poll. What do you all think?

I multitask up to a point, but with my laptop in the 'East Wing,' and the kitchen in the 'West Wing,' my arms simply aren't long enough.
Besides, because of my eyeproblem, I have to sit close to the screen, so apart from extra long arms, I'd also need eyes on extendable stalks!

If I win that writing competition, I might be in the mood to write a story about a woman like that!

That sounds wonderful! Right up your street, I would think. Is it right up Tammy's street as well?

And cold nights, for a just married couple in a lovely cottage ... A crackling log fire, a wee dram (or two), a game of chess, or dominoes, winner takes all etc A cold bedroom ... You can't wish for more!

Dave, Mark is my knight in shining armour, as far as polls are concerned, but if he is unexpectedly engaged in some tournament elsewhere, I hope he'll call on you. And if I know in time that he's not available, I'll happily promote you from squire to knight for the occasion!

The idea is the same, and the problem is already solved (nothing changes). We have Wavemachine as a last minute standby!
