Question D5100

I just got the new Nikon D5100. I have Photoshop Elements 6. I cannot view my raw photos. I could with my D80. What is the problem? What is the best program to use? Thanks

The first thing to try is to update the camera raw plugin in Elements 6 from the Adobe web site ,it's a free upgrade so no need to part with any money

If the camera raw plugin for Elements 6 doesn't support the D5100 raw files you can down load an Adobe DNG converter that will convert the D5100 raw's into DNG files that can be read by any version of Elements , this is also a free program from Adobe .

I use the DNG converter for my D90 raw files so that I can open them in Photoshop CS2 , it works perfectly .

markgozz is right, your best solution is Adobe's free DNG converter. DNG files are RAW files just like the originals, but they will work with older versions of Elements and Photoshop. Here's the link: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...&promoid=HTENB

You can't just download the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw, I'm afraid, because they're tied in with the version no. of Elements and Photoshop. RL
