Hi my name is Alan, and come from Scotland.
I've been intrested in photography for around cough cough 30 years now starting off with a canon A1 SLR. I had a nasty motorcycle crash 2 years ago, and when recovered, I broke what was left of my bike and bought myself a fantastic canon EOS 7d. The photographs that I have posted in the gallery are my first attempt at motorcycle racing photography, and I loved every second of it, and I know that I have a lot to learn. But I find that that is the great thing about digital camaras, they are such a fantastic learning tool.(wish we had digital 30 years ago)
I love looking through the gallery and seeing the wonderful photographs posted, but feel sad that some are slipping through the net and should be commented on as they are so good.
Anyway, I'm a bit like DD I suppose, and could talk the hind legs off a donkey, so should probably go now.
Glad to be part of the community.

hi everyone im Pati , im originally from Poland , i came to UK in 2006 - and im a mum to a 4 year old and a wife to a disabled veteran , i dont have much spare time with looking after baby and husband but when i do get time for myself i try to make most of it.
i was interested in photography when i got my first point and shoot camera at the age of 11 , but when i got my first dslr (sony a200) 3 years ago - that was the point when i started to read and experiment with camera ..i was lucky enough (after saving for over a year) to get a canon 7d - and i love it ( thanks to ease of use in canon i started to understand photography / composition a bit better ) - im at a learning stage - and i got a long way to go , but i want to improve my skills (if i got any) . as i dont get much time to go out and "enjoy" myself - i need to make most of models i got at home (husband and baby and myself ) ..
sorry for any spelling mistakes (and future ones ) - you need to forgive me im Polish ))
ufff that is p[probably the most i wrote in 6 years

Didn't really introduce myself in my previous post.

So here goes. In a nutshell.

Dutch citizen living in Hampshire, English husband, Anglo-Dutch Daughter who lives in South Yorkshire.

Partially sighted, using a bridge camera. Came to this site via the POTY competition in 2007, or 2008.

Only in the last two years or so, have I taken pohotography more seriously, and through contact with, and encouragement by a friend, I have now become passionate about it.

I shoot everything that comes before my lens and am still trying to find my strong points and my preferences.

Mostly self taught, but with help from others here on the site and elsewhere.

If you're interested to read a bit more about how my disability affects my photography, have a look here:

My name is Fay and I am an amateur photographer living in the UK. I adore the arts and photography. I am hopeless at drawing and painting so the camera is the only way I can express myself artistically.

I subscribe to Digital camera magazine and Practical Photoshop.

Hi I'm Des.I live in Dublin and have been interested in photography since my teens. My first camera was a Fujica STX1N way back in the eighties.Over the years I have had point and shoot cameras but preferred the control you get with slr's. So a few years back I got a Canon 450d and kit lens and started all over again. Now I have a Canon 60d,17-55 f2.8,55-250mm,50mm f1.8 II,430EXII flash,Vanguard tripod, remote release and a few cp filters.I like most types of photography but especially like landscape and macro.
Been on this site a while now and always find the topics in the forum great for valuable tips and nuggets of info.

Des

Hi Everyone,

I'm Jeff, and this is my second day as the new Website Editor for Digital Camera World, N Photo, Photo Plus and Practical Photoshop. Previously I was the deputy editor of this site's predecessor, PhotoRadar.

I'm from the US originally, but I've been living in the UK now for about 12 years. My background is in journalism, though I've been a keen photographer for much of my life. My favourite subjects to shoot are people - street scenes mainly - but these days I mostly only photograph my two young sons (and try to coax the youngest one to look at the camera!).

I shoot with a Nikon D90, which is still going strong, but I have to say my favourite camera is my Panasonic GF1 with the 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens. It's my camera of choice most days.

I'm really excited to join the community here at DCW and hope to get some interesting new content up for you soon! Likewise, if you have any burning questions or ideas, please do feel free to get in touch!

Cheers,
Jeff

I am Karen, totally obsessed with photography and much to my Mum's dismay photographing the industrial landscape! She can't quite understand how she can have " 2 normal daughters" with children etc.. but one who gets excited about water coolers and dirty industrial buildings lol

I'm not a pro ( far from it) and still have tons of stuff to learn about photography. As well as photography I like to keep fit, and enjoy traveling and I enjoy music and cinema.

I've been married for six years and don't have children but do have 2 dogue de bordeaux dogs called Aslan and Nala who are my babies! :-) I'm presently studying Media production in college 4 days a week.

Karen
