ThoseCameraCurls Attempt at Studio Work

Hey,

I'll just get it out there that I've been doing photography before I began it at A-level a few months ago, though these are my first attempt at studio work as I've never had previous access before. Feedback would be really appreciated, especially in terms of new techniques I could develop or any ideas, i.e New ways to position the lights!

Thankyou in advance.

If you had any spare time, I would love it you gave me feedback, here or on the photos, on my other portrait work! 500px / Flickr

Speaking personally, I prefer to comment on shots that I can actually see in the forum rather than go off round the web looking for them so you may get better response by including them in the forum post.

However, I did take a look at the four shots and like them in terms of processing and composition and setting. I was curious about your choice of lens though as using a wide angle has blown a couple of people's noses out of proportion as it distorts the perspective.

Not saying this is right or wrong but just interested in if this was a deliberate decision in your creative process?

No worries, I wasn't entirely sure how to include the actual photo in the post, I'm guessing I should upload it and link that photo properly? It didn't seem to work with using 500px or Flickr as the source.

The very first time I did it, it was unintentional. Though I normally use a wider angle lens because the D3100 doesn't have an internal motor so my 50mm is manual and it seems, on occasion, my eyes aren't as good as I would like to think as I've often fallen short on getting the focus I want. Though I suppose, given the fact I'm using a studio, a shallow DOF wouldn't be an issue.

I see what you mean about the distortion, though, but in all honesty - I kind of like it! The feedback was much appreciated.
